Description
PEEK Rod
PEEK natural rods are among the most advanced engineering thermoplastics, made from polyether ether ketone (PEEK). Available in rod form as well as sheets, tubes, and custom profiles, PEEK offers an outstanding balance of mechanical strength, heat resistance, and chemical durability, making it ideal for demanding industrial applications.
Key Features & Properties of PEEK Rod:
Heat Resistance
- Continuous operating temperature: ~250 °C
- Short-term temperature tolerance: up to 310 °C
- Maintains structural integrity under prolonged heat exposure.
Mechanical & Structural Properties
- High tensile and flexural strength.
- Excellent dimensional stability even under mechanical load.
- Good machinability with minimal post-machining deformation.
Chemical Resistance & Durability
- Resistant to a wide range of aggressive chemicals, including strong acids and solvents.
- Performs well in abrasive, corrosive, and high-pressure environments.
Electrical & Dielectric Properties
- Excellent electrical insulation properties across a broad temperature range.
- Suitable for precision electrical components exposed to heat.
Density & Water Absorption
- Density: approximately 1.31 g/cm³
- Very low water absorption (~0.4%) for stability in humid environments.
Available PEEK Grades:
PEEK is available in multiple grades tailored to specific performance requirements:
1. PEEK Natural – Unfilled, semi-crystalline polymer with excellent all-round properties. Ideal for general engineering, high-temperature, and chemical-resistant applications.
2. PEEK MOD – Modified with solid lubricants for improved sliding and wear resistance, and lower coefficient of friction. Suitable for applications requiring enhanced tribological performance.
3. PEEK HPV – Reinforced with graphite, PTFE, and carbon fibers to deliver maximum wear resistance, low friction, and improved mechanical strength. Often used in high-load, high-speed bearing applications.
4. PEEK CF30 – Contains 30% carbon fiber reinforcement for extremely high stiffness, reduced thermal expansion, and superior load-bearing capability.
5. PEEK GF30 – Contains 30% glass fiber reinforcement for increased rigidity and creep resistance under continuous load.
6. PEEK UD – Ultra-dry grade for applications requiring very low moisture content, such as semiconductor processing and aerospace.
Applications of PEEK Rod:
PEEK rods are used in advanced industries and challenging environments:
- Automotive – High-performance bushings, seals, washers, and engine components.
- Medical – Surgical tools, implants, sterilizable fixtures.
- Aerospace & Semiconductor – Precision structural parts in vacuum or high-temperature environments.
- Electrical & Electronics – High-temperature connectors, insulators, circuit protection.
- Petrochemical, Nuclear, Chemical – Valves, pump parts, high-pressure fittings.
